You must be familiar with the words aha and bha. Let us deconstruct further what they are⁣!

? aha and bha are alpha hydroxy and beta hydroxy acids. Don’t let the word ‘acid’ fool you :) Any compound which has a pH of <7 is considered acidic, even your skin is acidic. Acids aren’t harmful for the skin, in fact they are more compatible being closer in pH to the skin⁣

? Are acids the same as acid peels?⁣
Peels is the solution/ process of application of acids and acids are the main ingredients in the peels. Peels are called so because of the exfoliation/ peeling of the dead skin cells. It is not necessary that peeling needs to be visible to the naked eye as a literal layer peeling, it can happen microscopically as well depending on the type of acid and the concentration of acid used.⁣

? How do they work on your skin? ⁣
Acids loosen the bonds of the dead cells and exfoliate them off the skin to reveal a brighter and fresher skin. Depending on the type of acid, apart from exfoliating, they also have brightening, hydrating and anti aging properties⁣

? What are different types of acids? ⁣
There are various acids - Alpha hydroxy Acids (AHA), Beta Hydroxy acid (BHA), Poly hydroxy acid (PHA), Lipo hydroxy acid (LHA)⁣
